D.C. homicide detectives are investigating a Northeast Washington shooting after the victim died three days after he was wounded.

The Metropolitan Police Department said Sixth District officers responded to the 6200 block of Dix Street NE at approximately 5:58 p.m. July 28 for a reported shooting. Officers found a man unconscious but breathing and suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police identified the man as 22-year-old Jamari Millet of Southeast Washington and said he died at the hospital July 31 despite lifesaving efforts. MPD's August 2 release did not identify a suspect, announce an arrest or state the next expected investigative milestone.
